Went to see Cabrillo's production of Wizard of Oz, in Thousand Oaks today. It was, pretty much, the movie, on stage. It was sort of odd on various levels. The best part was seeing friends that were in it. The interesting thing was that Edd Hall, the previous announcer for Jay Leno, played the Wizard and the medicine show guy at the beginning and end. He had Frank Morgan down to a tee. It was a little eerie. It also felt kind of strange to see that play after having seen "Wicked," which (for those of you who have been living in a cave)is told from a completely different(the Witches')point of view. I found myself looking at the characters very differently. The sets and costumes were wonderful, as were the performances. It just felt...weird.
On a lighter note, last night was the best performance of Oklahoma that we've done, so far! There was so much energy from the cast and coming back at us, from the audience. It was quite a high. I think it helped that we got a great review in "The Star".
We were all so excited to be there and couldn't wait to show the audience why the reviewer liked it so much. I just hope and pray that we can keep building on it and not rest on our laurels, so to speak. Gotta go get ready for tonight.
